OK, so I have a couple of Winter projects planned, which I'll be documenting here.
First off, I've got a custom seat on order from Rick Mayer Cycle. Over the Winter I'll be shipping him my seat to be re-worked to my specifications.
Second, and very exciting to me, is a suspension upgrade. I've been interested in the WP USD front fork setup available from Touratech for ages now, but it's just too danged expensive. But I've learned something very interesting: The entire front assembly from a Yamaha YZ dirt bike can be attached to the steering head on my bike. Done.
Well, sorta done. There's going to be at least a bit more to it. I don't know how adaptable my hub will be to this new setup, I might need to consider a new wheel, or at least relacing my wheel to a new hub. Along with that I need to consider my ABS system. There's a ring mounted to my brake disk, and a sensor mounted to my fork castings. I'll need to keep both of these functioning, somehow.
Stay tuned for more.
